Victoria and Fabian Plaksins are the owners of The Source, Otways; a property situated in Tanybryn, approximately 15km northeast of Apollo Bay, Victoria. The property is a wildlife-friendly accommodation surrounded by pristine rainforest, and the owners offer guided wildlife tours and experiences for guests. Victoria and Fabian intend to continue encouraging guests to reconnect with nature through wilderness immersion experiences such as forest therapy and wilderness rites.
The property covers approximately 60 hectares of old-growth temperate rainforest intersected by Skenes Creek. Vegetation is largely dominated by giant redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens), ferns and eucalypts.
The property provides habitat for an abundance of wildlife including wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), snakes and a variety of birds. The endangered Otways black snails (Victaphanta compacta) are also found on the property. Non-native species such as red foxes (Vulpes vulpes), wild pigs (Sus scrofa), fallow deer (Dama dama) and rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) are also present.
