Tennille Bankes and Chris Maher are the owners of Wildlife Empire, a property situated in Inglewood, approximately 250km southwest of Brisbane, Queensland. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and rehabilitation site, housing a wide variety of rescued native animals. Tennille and Chris intend to develop education and wildlife care training programs in the future, whilst maintaining the property for its current uses.
The property covers approximately 200 hectares and is comprised mainly of eucalypt woodland, forming a wildlife corridor between two state forests.
Wildlife is abundant and includes swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), common dunnarts (Sminthopsis murina), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), bandicoots, snakes, lizards, turtles, insects and a variety of native birds including owls.
