Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / Tranquility

Sally Jenyns is the owner of Tranquility, a property located approximately 30km east of Toowoomba. The Lockyer Valley property is a dedicated wildlife-friendly sanctuary also used for livestock grazing in allotted paddocks, and it is Sally’s intent for it to continue in these purposes while regenerating the land to enhance wildlife habitat.

The property covers 22.24 hectares of land which has been disturbed through light quarrying and earth moving in the past, and is need of attention to restore natural health and diversity. Sedimentary rocks are scattered throughout Tranquility, with vegetation including eucalypt dominated intact native bushland and regenerating open forest, with a grassy and shrubby understory.

Wildlife species known to inhabit the sanctuary include eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, a variety of snake and frog species, lace monitors (Varanus varius), king parrots (Alisterus scapularis), red goshawks (Erythrotriorchis radiatus), wrens, and various other birdlife.
