Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / WA / Thomas and Yulia’s Refuge

Thomas Cudahy and Yulia Novikova are the owners of a property situated in Balingup, approximately 70km southeast of Bunbury, Western Australia. The property is a hobby farm, primarily used for recreation. Thomas and Yulia wish to maintain it for mixed farming while providing habitat for native species in the area. They do not use any pesticides or chemicals on the property.

The property covers 12.9 hectares and is comprised of a mix of native and exotic trees, pastoral grasslands and orchards. The property is intersected by Balingup Brook, which provides riparian habitat for native species.

A wide range of wildlife is present including western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus), western brown bandicoots (Isoodon obesulus fusciventer), brushtail possums (Trichosurus vulpecula), native snakes, long-necked turtles (Chelodina longicollis) and a variety of birdlife.
