Phyllus and Gordon Jones are the owners of a property situated in Mole River, approximately 200km northwest of Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. The property is a residence and sanctuary as well as a wildlife rehabilitation and release site, and it is the owners’ intention to maintain it for these purposes. The property provides habitat for a wide range of wild and released animals, which Phyllus and Gordon wish to protect.
The property spans 20 hectares of eucalypt woodland and native grassland. The residence, wildlife rehabilitation yards and pens cover one hectare of the property.
A wide range of wild and released species are present including macropods, brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, spotted-tailed quolls (Dasyurus maculatus), microbats and lace monitors (Varanus varius). An abundance of birdlife is also present including yellow-tailed black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus), wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax) and owls.
