Adventist Aged Care (Greater Sydney) Ltd. is the owner of a property located in approximately 30km northwest of Sydney. The property is an aged care centre and dedicated wildlife sanctuary, used for wildlife rehabilitation and education, and it is intended that an environmental conservation education centre will be established. The property is protected from development through an E2 Environmental Zone classification that surrounds it.
The sanctuary covers 10 hectares, with remnant vegetation including blackbutt (Eucalyptus pilularis), turpentine, (Syncarpia glomulifera) and smooth-barked apple (Angophora costata) open forest with both a wet and dry understory. The property also features Sydney peppermint (Eucalyptus piperita) / red bloodwood (Corymbia gummifera) open forest, and a riparian zone of Sydney sandstone gully forest.
Wildlife species known to occur on the sanctuary include a wide range of birds, reptiles and mammals, with threatened examples being powerful owls (Ninox strenua), eastern false pipistrelles (Falsistrellus tasmaniensis), and grey-headed flying-foxes (Pteropus poliocephalus).
