Animals desperately need your help. Together we can save them from suffering.

These animals are just like the pets we love at home.

Together, we can stop them from enduring unimaginable suffering.

Thousands of dogs are forced into painful experiments in laboratories, while many are left with horrific injuries from dogfighting.

Every year, an estimated 20 million dogs and 10 million cats are stolen and slaughtered for the dog and cat meat trade, enduring extreme suffering and cruelty before being killed for human consumption.

In puppy mills, mother dogs spend their entire lives in cramped cages with little to no personal attention and are bred until exhaustion.

Dogs squashed into a cage

Save a life today. End the trade forever.

While we think long-term to create far-reaching, systemic changes, we also have team members right now who are working tirelessly on the ground. Together, they are making the urgent and immediate rescue of taken and abused pets that really just belong back in their warm, loving home.

Georgie’s Story

Animal Welfare Campaigner Georgie Dolphin recently returned from South Korea, where she witnessed the heartbreaking reality of the dog meat trade. One image that stuck with her: a bag filled with discarded collars, silent proof of those already lost.

But there is hope. Thanks to our Models for Change program, thousands of dogs have been rescued, and a nationwide ban on the trade will soon take effect.

Boba’s Story

Boba was rescued from Viet Nam where he was destined for the cat meat trade. After being saved from a brutal fate, he was flown to Washington DC to begin his new life.

His new home with Regan, a Humane World for Animals worker who fell in love with him during the rescue operation.

Please donate today to help us rescue and take care of animals who have no one’s love and protection.

  • How are donations used?

Around 70% goes directly to our animal protection projects and conservation work in Australia and overseas. Donations are used to fund our animal protection and wildlife projects supporting wildlife rescue centres, rehabilitation and release programs for endangered wild animals, and the investigation of wildlife crime. Your contributions allow us to deliver disaster relief efforts where and when they are needed. Donations made to disaster appeals are restricted to funding disaster response, except for new monthly donations which help to fund ongoing work to protect animals.

  • How do I change/cancel my regular monthly gift?

You can make changes or cancel your regular monthly gift at any time by calling us on 1800 333 737 or sending an email to animaldefenderau@humaneworld.org. • Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. All donations to Humane World for Animals of $2 or more are tax deductible (Australia only).

  • What percentage of my donation goes to Humane World’s animal protection and environmental projects?

We make every effort dedicate at least 70% of our funds directly to animal protection and conservation efforts. We invest about 20% in fundraising to attract new supporters and ensure we have funds to invest in the most urgent animal protection campaigns, and approximately 10% is allocated to operational expenses, ensuring our projects and campaigns are delivered efficiently.

  • What can I do to help?

We are a community-funded organisation and rely on donors to support our work. The easiest and most effective way to contribute is to become an Animal Defender with a monthly recurring donation. Alternatively you can give a single donation today using our secure website.

We also activate our community of supporters to write to politicians and sign petitions that we use to influence positive change for animals. Visit our Get Involved page to learn more.
