Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / VIC / The Haven

The Haven is a 56.66 hectare refuge of native bush and pastureland in Yea, Victoria. It was established by WISE (Wildlife in a Secure Environment) to provide a sanctuary where injured or orphaned wildlife can be cared for until they are suitably recovered to allow their safe release back into the wild.

Running adjacent to the Goulburn River, The Haven is surrounded by private bushland and farmland, and is home to a diversity of wildlife that is being rehabilitated, including eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) and other macropods, koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), common brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, and a variety of birds and reptiles. WISE provide care and habitat for these animals, and is revegetating areas of the property, as well as developing 16 hectares of wetlands to provide natural food sources, housing and habitat for their release.
