Alana and Lochlan Bartley are the owners of Nandara a property situated in Hazelbrook in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales. The property is currently being managed as environmental land with future intentions of the owners to venture into public education for best practices on maintaining areas for the protection for wildlife and ecotourism with minimal impact. Owners Alana and Lochlan have desires to build a minimal imprint home on the land. Owner Alana is a wildlife rehabilitator and hopes in time to establish the property to serve as a soft release sanctuary for local Blue Mountains carers.
Nandara spans 15 hectares across Eucalyptus sieberi – E. piperita Open Forest, Mountains Heath and Scrub and Blue Mountains Swamps (a Vulnerable Ecological Community). Ecological surveying of the property saw 67 native flora species recorded. 73 species of native wildlife have been found at Nandara include threatened species such as koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) and gang gang cockatoos (Callocephalon fimbriatum) as well as lizards such as mountains heath dragons (Rankinia diemensis), snakes including tiger snakes (Notechis scutatus) small eyed snakes (Cryptophis nigrescens), birds of prey, black cockatoos, possums and wallabies.
