Mat Fisher is the manager of Marajon, a property situated in Meredith, approximately 40km south of Ballarat, Victoria. The property is a farm and residence as well as a wildlife-friendly sanctuary. Mat would like to conserve the land and give an identity to the habitat and its conservation values.
The property covers 1,000 hectares and is comprised of farmland and woodlands, with around 60 hectares of high-value conservation land. The property fronts on to the Yarrowee River and features native trees and grasses. A range of wildlife is present including eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) and a variety of native birds.
