In Western Australia, private landholders can kill native animals under fauna causing damage and dangerous fauna licences. Dingoes remain unprotected and can be killed, and cruel poisons such as strychnine are still allowed for killing dingoes and emus. These licences are handed out too easily, with little requirement to prove damage or try non-lethal alternatives first. Without reform, lethal control will remain the default response to human–wildlife conflict, leaving animals to suffer and ecosystems to decline. Help us call for stronger protections for Western Australia’s native animals.
