Michael Kobryn is the owner of WildlifeSanctuary, a property situated in Mount Mary, approximately 120km northeast of Adelaide, South Australia. Formerly part of a pastoral enterprise, the property is now a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and it is Michael’s intention to continue to regenerate the native bushland to provide habitat for wildlife.
The property consists of approximately 141.8 hectares of regenerated native bushland. Mallee woodland dominates the landscape with medium to large trees and an abundant understorey is present, which is a rarity in the region. Vegetation consists primarily of eucalyptus, she-oaks (Casuarina spp.), acacias, emu bushes (Eremophila spp.) and salt bushes (Atriplex spp.).
Wildlife found on the property includes western grey (Macropus fuliginosus) and red (Macropus rufus) kangaroos, bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), emus (Dromaius novaehollandiae) and a variety of reptiles including lace monitors (Varanus varius). Birdlife is abundant and includes many small species such as pardalotes (Pardalotus spp.) and superb fairy-wrens (Malurus cyaneus).
