Denise Trimmer is the owner of Wyldewood Sanctuary, a property located in Hyndman’s Creek, approximately 30km west of Port Macquarie, New South Wales. The property is a residence and dedicated sanctuary for native flora and fauna. Denise has undertaken bush regeneration at Wyldewood Sanctuary, and intends to continue in these efforts.
Wyldewood Sanctuary covers 13.8 hectares bordering a state forest. The property features two spring-fed dams and some native grasses such as kangaroo (Themeda triandra) and wallaby grass (Rytidosperma spp.), and approximately half of Wyldewood Sanctuary is comprised of dry eucalypt woodland and remnant rainforest. Vegetation species present include various eucalypts such as blackbutt (Eucalyptus pilularis),and tallowood (Eucalyptus microcorys), wattles (Acacia spp.), proteas (Protea spp.), casuarinas (Casuarina spp.) and tea trees (Leptospermum spp.).
Wildlife known to inhabit the sanctuary includes eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), lace monitors (Varanus varius), brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, feather-tailed (Acrobates pygmaeus) and sugar (Petaurus breviceps) gliders, grey-headed flying-foxes (Pteropus poliocephalus), red-bellied black snakes (Pseudechis porphyriacus), green tree frogs (Litoria caerulea), and a wide variety of bird species.
