Kathy Isherwood is the owner of Dianella, a property situated near Newcastle, NSW. The sanctuary is located about 10 km from Uffington State Forest, and the nearby Wallaroo Nature Reserve and State Forest. Dianella is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and residence, and Kathy intends to maintain it as such.
Dianella covers 32.5 hectares of open forest that covers terrain ranging from relatively flat through to steep hillsides. Kathy has allowed the property to naturally regenerate and biodiversity is blossoming. Eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), lace monitors (Varanus varius), brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, microbats and antechinuses all inhabit the sanctuary, along with various snakes, lizards and birds. The property also contains a natural stand of the nationally endangered slaty red gum (Eucalyptus glaucina).
