Kevin Vincent is the owner of Honey Cottage, a property located approximately 20km south of Townsville. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and it is Kevin’s intent for his daughter Carmen to rehabilitate wildlife there, including macropods, reptiles and birds, while she completes a degree in zoology and ecology. Honey Cottage is currently in development with Kevin and his daughter Carmen relocating a house from town on to the block.
Honey Cottage covers 0.4 hectares and vegetation includes Moreton Bay ashes (Corymbia tessellaris), forest red gums (Eucalyptus tereticornis), poplar gums (Eucalyptus platyphylla), spring bloodwoods (Corymbia ptychocarpa aptycha), pink euodias (Melicope elleryana), golden pendas (Xanthostemon chrysanthus), tulipwoods (Dalbergia decipularis), and broad-leafed paperbarks (Melaleuca quinquenervia).
The sanctuary is home to various birdlife including galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla), corellas (Cacatua spp.), sulphur-crested cockatoos (Cacatua galerita), laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae) as well as several species of frogs and snakes.
