Humane Society International is bitterly disappointed with the NSW Government’s response to the recommendations of a parliamentary inquiry into the use of primates, dogs, cats and other animals in research.
The inquiry recommended the rapid phasing out of forced inhalation tests and forced swim tests; a recommendation that the NSW Government has ‘noted’ rather than supported. With two decades of biomedical experience, HSI’s Global Vice President of Research & Toxicology, Troy Seidle, gave evidence to the inquiry explaining the obsolete and cruel nature of animal research and the successful alternatives available. We call on all parties to commit to implementing the recommendations of the parliamentary inquiry in full as we head towards the NSW election in March.
