Celine Debellis and Didier Marceau are the owners of Okazou located in Dorroughby, New South Wales less than 1 kilometre away from the nearby Nightcap National Park and Whian Whian State Conservation Area. The property consists of mostly trees with no grass or cleared land. The owners have built a natural eco pond for wildlife on the land after which they have seen an increase in birds and frogs. The owners do not use chemicals and weeding is done by hand. The owners’ future intentions are to preserve habitat and to establish a wildlife corridor. Other potential future plans are to build another eco-pond, plant more bird trees, and join rescue groups.
Okazou spans 4.8 hectares across mostly rainforest and wet sclerophyll rainforest of the plant community types of Northern Hinterland Blackbutt-Forest Oak Wet Forest, Northern Brush Box Subtropical Wet Forest and Northern Turpentine-Brush Box Wet Forest.
The property features native fauna species such as koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), snakes, birds, frogs, wallabies, insects, pademelons, blue tongue lizards (Tiliqua sp.) and monitor lizards (Varanus sp.).
