Robyn Weeding is the owner of Sanctuary 10 Taylor, a property situated in Westbury, Tasmania. The property is currently a residential block also used for wildlife rehabilitation. Robyn aims to place a covenant on the property to prevent subdivision and to establish it as a local sanctuary for native wildlife. Robyn’s sanctuary is part of the ‘Gardens for Wildlife’ program.
Sanctuary 10 Taylor spans 0.5 hectares. The land has previously been used for a small livestock/poultry hobby farm and is slowly being restored as a sanctuary for local wildlife. The property has a mix of fruiting, native and decorative vegetation and grass has been pasture and lawn.
The property provides habitat for a range of species including Eastern barred bandicoot (Perameles gunnii gunnii), Southern brown bandicoot (Isoodon obesulus), brush-tailed possums (Trichosurus vulpecula), ring-tailed possums (Pseudocheirus peregrinus), green and gold frogs (Litoria raniformis), echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus setosus) insects, burrowing crayfish (Engaeus sp.), macropod species, lizards, snakes and various native birds.
