Peter Collison is the owner of Warrakin Valley Farm, a property situated in Japoonvale, approximately 30km south of Innisfail, Queensland. The property is a wildlife sanctuary and certified organic farm, and Peter wishes to maintain the land for these purposes while supporting the land’s rainforest habitat.
The property spans 27.33 hectares, consisting mainly of rainforest with 2.8 hectares housing an organic farm. The block adjoins World Heritage-listed rainforest to the north, with frontage to Liverpool Creek to the south. The land slopes up from the riparian area, grading steeply to the north.
Wildlife is abundant, and includes southern cassowaries (Casuarius casuarius), red-legged pademelons (Thylogale stigmatica), striped possums (Dactylopsila trivirgata), musky rat-kangaroos (Hypsiprymnodon moschatus), amethystine pythons (Morelia amethistina), Boyd’s forest dragons (Lophosaurus boydii) and a vast array of native birds.
