Ferdinand Kotzyba is the owner of The Hermitage, a property situated in Collins Creek, approximately 13km north of Kyogle, New South Wales. The property includes creek flats and gently undulating to steeper hill country. It is a wildlife sanctuary with a two-bedroom residence, shed and two pagodas.

The Hermitage spans 40.65 hectares. The hills are covered with mainly dry woodland, the flats are grasslands and most wet areas and valleys are growing a plantation of eucalypt and non-eucalypt (native rainforest) species. A range of wildlife is found at The Hermitage, including wallabies, koalas, goannas, frogs, snakes, dingoes, and a variety of birds including kookaburras.
