The Crater Lakes Wildlife Hospital is a property located approximately 100km northwest of Innisfail. The property is a fully equipped wildlife hospital and care facility for native wildlife species. The Crater Lakes Wildlife Hospital provides a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week wildlife rescue, care and rehabilitation service in a natural bush setting.
The sanctuary covers 0.81 hectares, and features remnant rainforest vegetation areas which are currently involved in a revegetation program. Wildlife species cared for on the sanctuary include musky rat kangaroos (Hypsiprymnodon moschatus), northern bettongs (Bettongia tropica), agile wallabies (Macropus agilis) and swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor) and Lumholtz’s tree-kangaroos (Dendrolagus lumholtzi).
