Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / The Brothers

Patricia Kelly is the sole director of TJM Select Investments Pty Ltd, owner of The Brothers, a property located approximately 25km northeast of Texas. The property was purchased for conservation purposes, with the intent of being dedicated habitat for native wildlife and used for agriculture purposes (sheep grazing). Areas of The Brothers were fairly heavily cleared and grazed by previous owners, and it is Patricia’s intent to allow significant natural revegetation to take place over the coming years.

The sanctuary covers approximately 1,059 hectares of predominantly trap rock country with vegetation types including old growth box-gum grassy woodland. It adjoins Wilga Park Nature Refuge which in turn adjoins Dilladerri Nature Refuge, both of which are also owned by TJM Select Investments Pty Ltd, forming a contiguous parcel of 6057 wildlife-friendly hectares.

Native wildlife species for which The Brothers is known to provide habitat include eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), northern brown bandicoots (Isoodon macrourus), lace monitors (Varanus varius), and a wide variety of bird species such as superb fairy-wrens (Malurus cyaneus), red-winged parrots (Aprosmictus erythropterus), diamond firetails (Stagonopleura guttata), and striated pardalotes (Pardalotus striatus).
