Elizabeth van Herwaarden and John Pattison are the owners of Rosella Retreat, a property located approximately 10km northeast of Gisborne which is a dedicated wildlife-friendly sanctuary and household conservation zone.

The property covers approximately 9 hectares of heavily timbered native bushland in the Macedon Ranges, boasting a variety of tree and shrub species. Wildlife species known to inhabit the sanctuary include eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), rosellas, Australian magpies (Cracticus tibicen), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), and a range of small birds.
