Chris and Craig Collyer are the owners of Nymbaringa, a property located approximately 50km southwest of Grafton. The property is a wildlife-friendly sanctuary and a residence, home to a small number of domestic animals and rehabilitated wildlife. It is Chris and Craig’s intent to continue to reforest and restore the property to its original state rendering it a safe and enduring habitat for wildlife and native species in the region.
Nymbaringa covers 40 hectares of natural bushland with some areas cleared for pasture. Vegetation comprises mainly of wet and dry sclerophyll forest and sub-tropical rainforest adjacent to seasonal creeks which provide shelter and water for local wildlife.
Wildlife known to inhabit the property includes red-necked pademelons (Thylogale thetis), Australian brush turkeys (Alectura lathami), satin bowerbirds (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus), laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae), superb lyrebirds (Menura novaehollandiae), red-tailed (Calyptorhynchus banksii) and yellow-tailed (C. funereus) black-cockatoos, wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), dingoes (Canis dingo), koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), lace monitors (Varanus varius), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus) and swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor) as well as various frogs and lizards including leaf-tailed geckos (Phyllurus spp.).
