Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Mount Innes Retreat

Dianne and Ray are the owners of Mount Innes Retreat, a property situated in Upper Nile approximately 34km southeast of Rylstone, New South Wales. The property is closely located to Wollemi National Park and is partly cleared land bound by Mt Innes on the west and Upper Nile Rd on the east. The land was previously used for grazing and pasture. The owner’s intentions are to grow olive trees on the property and revegetate other parts of the land to return it to its original state and habitat for animals.

Mount Innes Retreat spans 72 hectares across Eucalypt woodland and native grasses as well as seeded paddocks. The property features native flora species such as white box gum (Eucalyptus albens), yellow box gum, (Eucalyptus melliodora) Kurrajong (Brachychiton populneus) and blackthorn (Bursaria spinosa).

The property provides habitat for a range of species including goannas (Varanus sp.), echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), bared-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), wallabies and eagles.
