Roslyn and Rey are the owners of Kelvin Grove, a property situated in Lacmalac, approximately 10kms east of Tumut, New South Wales. The property is a small hobby farm with the owners intending to continue to replant native vegetation along the creek lines and shelter belts to restore the property. The owners intend to participate in natural revegetation programs with Local Land Services and Landcare for support to achieve this. Kelvin Grove currently stocks a small number of beef cattle, and the owners are looking into rotational grazing in specific areas so they can focus on rehabilitating the rest of the property. Another future goal for the land is to improve the water quality of the creek and dams for wildlife and the overall ecosystem.
Kelvin Grove spans 35 hectares. The land has been keyline managed by the previous owners to catch and store water. The property features mixed remnant vegetation, mostly trees. The property is naturally the ecosystem is box gum grassy woodlands and currently features a small patch of the plant community type Riparian Ribbon Gum – Robertsons Peppermint – Apple Box riverine very tall open forest of the NSW South Western Slopes and South East Highlands Bioregions.Â
Wildlife such as kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), wombats (Vombatus ursinus), birdlife, bats, owls and possums are present on the property.
