John Daley is the owner of a property located approximately 12km east of Epsom. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary with a section of the land subject to a covenant with Trust for Nature. It is John’s intent for the property to continue to be used in these purposes as well as for education and recreation.
The sanctuary is a semi-cleared bush block covering approximately 8 hectares and surrounded by the Wellsford Forest. Vegetation consists predominantly of Box-Ironbark forest with remnant rare small plants across 2 hectares of the land. John also grows vegetables and edible plants in an orchard separated from the covenanted area.
Wildlife known to inhabit the property includes lace monitors (Varanus varius), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), various lizards and birds and many other native species from the adjacent bushland.
