Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / TAS / Hillend

Bob Elliston is the owner of Hillend, a property located in Great Bay on the North Island of Bruny Island, Tasmania.  The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and a residence. It is Bob’s intent to continue to manage the land for the benefit of the local environment.

Hillend covers 60 hectares surrounding the Bruny Island airstrip and backs onto a brackish lake located behind coastal sand dunes known as ‘The Big Lagoon.’ Vegetation consists mainly of mixed tea tree scrub and light eucalypt forest on sand clay soil with some peat soils and heathland.

Wildlife known to inhabit the property includes Bennett’s wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus) and an abundance of bird species.
