Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / Gregory Terrace

Wendy Jenkinson and Keith Larcombe are the owners of Gregory Terrace, a property situated in Kuranda, approximately 20km northwest of Cairns, Queensland. The property is a home and wildlife-friendly sanctuary. Wendy and Keith have lived on the property for 12 years, and plan to maintain and protect it for the benefit of native species and their habitat.

The property covers approximately 0.424 hectares and is bounded by a creek to the north. Vegetation primarily consists of tropical rainforest, with a variety of native and endemic floral species present.

Wildlife is abundant and includes short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), striped possums (Dactylopsila trivirgata), green possums (Pseudochirops archeri), sugar gliders (Petaurus breviceps), eastern blue-tongued lizards (Tiliqua scincoides) and water dragons (Intellagama lesueurii). A variety of birdlife is also present including southern cassowaries (Casuarius casuarius), Papuan frogmouths (Podargus papuensis) and greater sooty owls (Tyto tenebricosa).
