Willem Fehres Property Unit Trust is the owner of Domes Retreat, a property located approximately 80km north west of Brisbane. The property is a wildlife-friendly sanctuary and a bed and breakfast health retreat. The sanctuary is often also used for the release of rehabilitated koalas. It is the owner’s intent for the property to continue in these purposes, and for the land to be passed on to new, like-minded custodians in the future.
Domes Retreat is set on a mountain slope bushland property overlooking Lake Wivenhoe and covers 19.4 hectares of eucalypt and dry vine forest on scree slopes with small pockets of subtropical rainforest. Wildlife known to inhabit the sanctuary include koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus) eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and common ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, swamp (Wallabia bicolor), red-necked (Macropus rufogriseus) and whiptail (Macropus parryi) wallabies, dingoes (Canis lupus dingo), eastern rosellas (Platycercus eximius), galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla), sulphur-crested cockatoos (Cacatua galerita), and rainbow lorikeets (Trichoglossus moluccanus), as well as swans, ducks and cormorants
