Chris and Di Carter are the owners of a property located approximately 20km south of Hobart. The property is a residence and wildlife-friendly sanctuary, and it is Chris and Di’s intent for it to remain as such.
The property covers approximately 7.5 hectares on Tinderbox Ridge, with its steep grassy slopes hosting endemic dry sclerophyll forest featuring various eucalypts and sheoaks (Allocasuarina spp.).
Wildlife species known to inhabit the sanctuary include Bennett’s wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus rufogriseus), eastern barred bandicoots (Perameles gunnii), Tasmanian pademelons (Thylogale billardierii), long-nosed potoroos (Potorous tridactylus), and more than 20 recorded bird species such as the forty-spotted pardalote (Pardalotus quadragintus), which is listed as Endangered under national environment legislation.
