Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Buroo Cottage

Sue McKellar is the owner of Buroo Cottage, a property situated in Wallagoot, approximately 16km southeast of Bega, New South Wales. The property is a residence, wildlife-friendly sanctuary and wildlife rehabilitation site. Sue wishes to maintain the property for these purposes while sharing the land with resident native species.

Buroo Cottage covers one hectare across a small acreage adjacent to Bournda National Park. The property neighbours a council-owned reserve with a large, freshwater reservoir and seasonal creek. Vegetation is comprised of native grasslands and eucalypt woodlands.

A variety of native species are present including eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), red necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), native birds and reptiles.
