Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Brick Kiln Creek

Ben Bradey and Andre Poidomani are the owners of Brick Kiln Creek, a property situated in Bendoura, approximately 19 kilometres southwest of Braidwood, New South Wales. Brick Kiln Creek is a wildlife sanctuary and lifestyle property. Owners Ben and Andre intend to revegetate the lower areas of the property to establish wildlife corridors between remnant snowgum patches and the creek. Other future plans for the management of the property include managing the die-back of peppermint gums in some areas, making wildlife friendly fencing and undertaking cool burns for ecological purposes. Brick Kiln Creek is in the final stages of establishing a Conservation Agreement with the New South Wales Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) for about ¾ of the property. 85% of this area has been assessed as moderate or good condition by the BCT.

Brick Kiln Creek spans 46 hectares and is covered by Eucalypt woodland and Monaro Kangaroo Grass Woodland-Grassland Complex. There is a creek on the western boundary of the property with remnant snow gums. The property also rises to the east with original forest. Native plant species found on the property include snow gum (Eucalyptus pauciflora), manna gum (Eucalyptus viminalis), swamp gum (Eucalyptus ovata), peppermint (Eucalyptus radiata), candlebark (Eucalyptus rubida), silver top ash (Eucalyptus sieberi), black sheoak (Allocasuarina littoralis) and Kunzea sp.

The property provides habitat for a range of species including echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), glossy black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus lathami), yellow-tailed black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus), gang gang cockatoos (Callocephalon fimbriatum), red robins, eagles and many other bird species as well as kangaroos, wallabies, bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus).
