The Mobbs Family Trust are the owners of Angkyra, a property situated in Dunbible, southeast of Murwillumbah, New South Wales. A quarter of the property consists of regrowth wet sclerophyll and lowland subtropical rainforest. The remaining land is pasture or pasture with exotic weeds. The land is hilly and has two spring fed creeks running through it. Angkyra is currently used for agricultural purposes; however, the owners are working towards excluding cattle from areas of significant biodiversity. Future plans for the property include fencing all creeks to prevent cattle access and restoring the surrounding riparian zones, fencing off roughly one third of the land to protect important habitat, and reintroducing plant species that are currently absent from the site.
Angkyra spans 42 hectares across wet scleryophyll forests and subtropical rainforests including the plant community types of Far North Brush Box-Walnut Wet Forest, Far North Coastal Hills Blackbutt-Ironbark Forest, Far North Lowland Subtropical Rainforest and Northern Hinterland Grey Gum-Turpentine Mesic Forest.
The property provides habitat for a range of species, notably feathertail gliders (Acrobates pygmaeus), pademelons and bandicoots.
