Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / SA / 28 Birds

L McDonald and I Mulligan are the owners of 28 Birds, a property situated in Willunga Hill, approximately 50km south of Adelaide, South Australia. The property is a small-scale produce farm and wildlife-friendly sanctuary. Prior to its purchase, the land was unmanaged for over 20 years and became a valuable habitat for over 40 kangaroos. The owners wish to maintain a low-scale horticultural produce farm while preserving this land for the resident kangaroo mobs, joining two neighbouring landowners in this goal.

28 Birds spans 8.1 hectares of farmland, native grassland and open eucalypt woodland. A range of native species are present including western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus), koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus) and an array of birdlife.
