Every year, Victoria continues to allow recreational duck shooting, even though the practice is cruel and incompatible with modern wildlife protection.

An independent panel highlighted that waterbird numbers and wetland availability across eastern Australia have remained below long-term averages for years. Climate change, drought, and habitat loss are already reducing breeding success. Allowing hunting during these conditions removes breeding adults and adds avoidable pressure to struggling populations.

Despite these findings, the Victorian Government continues to permit duck shooting each year.

This is not a question of personal freedoms or tradition. It is about whether wildlife laws are being applied in line with ecological reality, animal welfare, and the public interest.

Take action now and tell the Victorian Government to end recreational duck shooting.
