Bruce Smith is the owner of Lake View, a property located approximately 67km south of Cairns. The property is a wildlife care and rehabilitation facility for native wildlife species, providing a wildlife rescue, care and rehabilitation service for the region.
The sanctuary covers 1.6 hectares, with vegetation predominantly typical of northern Queensland including dry rainforest species, vines and orchids.
Wildlife species known to occur on the sanctuary include agile wallabies (Macropus agilis), species of tree kangaroo such as Bennett’s tree-kangaroos (Dendrolagus bennettianus) and Lumholtz’s tree-kangaroos (Dendrolagus lumholtzi), brushtail possums (Trichosurus Vulpecula), ringtail possums (Pseudocheirus peregrinus), Australian brush turkeys (Alectura lathami), bush stone-curlews (Esacus neglectus) and many other native bird species.
