Wombatised Inc c/o Tania Clancy are the owners of Elstead, a property situated in Mittagong in New South Wales. Elstead is a combination of old-world gardens and native flora that is enjoyed by many native animals. The property features spacious accommodation quarters, rambling gardens and private spaces. The property is used for wildlife rehabilitation and as a wildlife refuge. Wombatised Inc is a charity with tax- deductible status for the purpose of rehabilitating native animals. Wombatised will continue to use Elstead to raise sick, injured or orphaned native wildlife. The future intentions for Elstead are to use the property for accommodation which will sustain the property’s charitable purpose. Wombatised sees the value of education and uses Elstead to train wildlife personnel and facilitate as much educational content as possible.
The property spans 3 acres and features surrounding sclerophyll forests of the Southern Highlands (wet woodlands) plant community type. The property incorporates eucalypts, native grasses and established species.
The property provides habitat for a range of species including orphans under rehabilitation such as tawny frogmouths (Podargus strigoides), wallabies, kangaroos (Macropus sp.), wombats (Vombatus ursinus), parrots, echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus) as well as free-living wombats (Vombatus ursinus), golden-back lizards, blue tongue lizards (Tiliqua scincoides scincoides), tree creepers, bowerbirds, sugar gliders (Petaurus breviceps), tawny frogmouths (Podargus strigoides), ring-tailed possums (Pseudocheirus peregrinus), water bird species and native hens.
