Amber Moloney is the owner of a property situated in Merriwa, approximately 70km west of Muswellbrook, New South Wales. The property is a wildlife-friendly sanctuary, also used for recreation and as a part-time family residence with a small house, productive garden and fenced yard. Amber wishes to maintain the property for these purposes while supporting land restoring native bushland for wildlife.
The property covers 132 hectares of regenerated bushland on former agricultural land. Vegetation in transition zones is characterised by grassy box woodlands and stringybark forest.
An abundance of wildlife is found on the property including eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), wallaroos (Macropus robustus), red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), microbats, blue-bellied (Pseudechis guttatus) and red-bellied (Pseudechis porphyriacus) black snakes and lace monitors (Varanus varius). A variety of birdlife is also present including wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae), kingfishers, king parrots (Alisterus scapularis), galahs(Eolophus roseicapilla), yellow-tailed black cockatoos (Zanda funerea), sulphur-crested cockatoos (Cacatua galerita), eastern (Platycercus eximius) and crimson (Platycercus elegans) rosellas, magpies (Gymnorhina tibicen), treecreepers, Torresian crows (Corvus orru), magpie larks (Grallina cyanoleuca), rainbow lorikeets (Trichoglossus moluccanus) and various small parrots.
