3. Contact the Canadian Prime Minister.
Write to Canada’s Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, expressing your horror and disgust that the annual legal seal slaughter continues, and furthermore is supported and subsidized by his government despite international protest. Call on the Canadian government to immediately call off the seal hunt due to the lack of solid ice which has already resulted in a far reduced number of baby seals than in previous years.
Right Honorable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister’s Office, 80 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A OA2 Canada. pm@pm.gc.ca or mailto:Harper.S@parl.gc.ca
4. Contact the Canadian High Commission in Australia.
Write to the Canadian High Commissioner, His Excellency Michael Leir, expressing the same sentiments as described above for the Prime Minister.
Michael Small, Canadian High Commissioner, Canadian High Commission, Commonwealth Avenue, Canberra, ACT 2600. mailto:cnbra@international.gc.ca
5. Contact the Canadian Tourism Commission.
Write to the Canadian Tourism Commission and tell them that you are horrified at the continuation of the government-supported seal slaughter and are resolved not to visit Canada until it has been abolished. Emphasise the negative publicity of the seal hunt for Canada as host of the largest wholesale slaughter of marine mammals in the world, outnumbering even the infamous whale hunts of Japan, Iceland and Norway.
