HSI MEDIA CONTACTS AT BONN CLIMATE TALKS
As 2011’s World Environment Day ends with the particular theme of forests and their sustainable management, Humane Society International (HSI) is campaigning hard for an international agreement to protect tropical forests to combat climate change and save global biodiversity.
HSI will be at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn, starting in a few hours on June 6th in Germany, for the 34th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA).
HSI will be attending the Conference as part of the Ecosystems Climate Alliance* (ECA). Representing HSI will be Climate Change adviser, Mr. Alistair Graham, together with Peg Putt from the Wilderness Society. Two HSI Special Bulletins, authored by Graham and Putt, entitled ‘Call for Truth in Targets’ Part 1 (http://bit.ly/jItGvU) and Part 2 (http://bit.ly/mldUBr), have been tabled at the meetings, outlining how unaccounted land and forestry emissions of developed countries (including Australia) are undermining emissions reduction targets and what can be done about it. Alistair Graham and Peg Putt will be contactable during the conference, 6-17 June, with press liaison Don Lehr available in week two.
