SUPPORT REQUIRED FOR PROTECTION OF ESSENTIAL MARINE HABITAT
A 2011 Humane Society International (HSI) nomination saw the “Posidonia australis complex sea-grass meadows” ecological community prioritised for assessment for an endangered listing under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, 1999 (EPBC Act). Three years on the Threatened Species Scientific Committee (TSSC) has released its draft description of the community, and the listing process has entered the crucial public comment period.
We kindly ask that you support HSI's efforts to protect this precious habitat by submitting a comment on the draft description of the Posidonia australis complex sea-grass meadows.
Click here to access the TSSC’s draft description and a copy of HSI’s original nomination, as well as further instructions and suggestions relating to the invitation to comment.
Lengthy submissions are by no means a requirement; a simple statement of your endorsement of the ecological community’s draft description assists in showing there is support behind giving Posidonia australis complex sea-grass meadows the recognition and legal protection it is eligible for and urgently requires through an EPBC Act listing.
