Gold Coast based Abbey McCulloch is exhibiting for the fourth year in HSI's Extinction Denied exhibition. Australian Art Collector listed Abbey as one of Australia's 50 Most Collectible Artists of 2009 and her portrait of Nell Schofield was a finalist in the 2009 Archibald Portrait Prize as well as being shortlisted for the Archibald in 2007 with her portrait of Toni Collette. She has had many group exhibitions, including Figuratively, Genesis, Art Angels, Luminous and White Lies Beneath in galleries in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Holding at least one solo exhibition each year, most recently at the Helen Gory Gallery and Art Galleries Schubert, Abbey's work has also been profiled in many publications including Australian Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Black and White, Frankie and Yen. Abbey has received numerous other awards and prizes, including the Mosman Art Prize (shorlisted in 2004) and second prize in the Redland Art Prize, Redland Gallery QLD in 2006 and the Stan & Maureen Duke prize 2009. Abbey has collections in the USA, Malaysia, Hong Kong and throughout Australia. |
