Humane Society International (HSI) is opposed to the recreational and commercial hunting of kangaroos and wallabies in Australia on conservation and animal welfare grounds. We have repeatedly made these views known to the Australian commonwealth and state governments in countless letters, submissions and media releases but they continue to allow our national icon to be treated as a commodity by a cruel and callous industry. Our office in Washington campaigns hard to stop imports of kangaroo products into the United States market. HSI also objects to culling programs to make way for urban developments.
